The Telangana Government Doctors Association (TGGDA) has called upon the state government to immediately appoint an interim in-charge commissioner for the Directorate of Secondary Health Care (DSHC) to ensure uninterrupted administration of the department. This request comes following the retirement of the current commissioner of the DSHC, formerly known as the Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP), on May 31.
Association's Appeal for Seniority-Based Appointment
In a press statement issued on Thursday, the association urged the government to appoint the senior-most civil surgeon specialist as the in-charge commissioner, based on vertical seniority. According to TGGDA leaders, such an appointment would help maintain continuity in governance and ensure experienced leadership for timely and effective administrative decision-making.
Benefits of Respecting Seniority
The association further stated that respecting seniority in appointments would help maintain harmony within the medical fraternity and boost confidence among government doctors working in the secondary healthcare system across the state. TGGDA leaders also stressed that any delay in appointing an interim head could disrupt the department's smooth functioning, which plays a crucial role in managing secondary healthcare services in Telangana.
