Uday Samant pulls up Shiv Sena leaders over infighting

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: State industry minister and Shiv Sena leader Uday Samant on Thursday pulled up party functionaries from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in the wake of setbacks in recent local elections. Addressing a party convention, Samant said, "Everyone should take care that our family is not divided due to internal differences. Party leaders must act as one unit rather than forming their own groups."

Internal strife and poor performance

The local unit of the Shiv Sena has been grappling with infighting between district guardian minister Sanjay Shirsat and deputy mayor Rajendra Janjal, who have been openly targeting each other in recent months. Referring to the party's poor showing in the municipal elections and zilla parishad polls in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Samant called for introspection and hard work to restore past glory.

"Until the closed-door discussions in Sambhajinagar by leaders stop, nothing will happen. Let's bring an end to the practice of such closed-door discussions now," he said, alluding to secret meetings held by some senior leaders. He added, "From what we have heard, the office-bearers of Sambhajinagar are in a state of confusion. Efforts should be made to clear that confusion."

Displeasure over organizational work

The minister also expressed his displeasure over the party's organizational building work in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. "There is a need for self-reflection and self-examination regarding the fact that the work of party building has not been done here. 100% of such works have been done in my constituency and therefore, I have the right to say so," he asserted.

Later, addressing reporters, Samant said the Mahayuti partners will decide on seat-sharing for the upcoming MLC polls within the next two days.
