New Delhi prepares for a spectacular Republic Day parade on January 26, with the theme celebrating 150 years of Vande Mataram. This year's event promises a rich blend of history, culture, and military prowess along Kartavya Path.
Historic Art Takes Center Stage
View-cutters along the parade route will display a series of paintings created by Tejendra Kumar Mitra in 1923. These artworks illustrate the verses of 'Vande Mataram' and were originally published in the 'Bande Mataram Album'. The floral decorations at the parade dais will also follow the Vande Mataram theme, creating a cohesive visual experience.
Musical Tributes Across the Nation
From January 19 to 26, band performances on the 'Vande Mataram' theme will resonate across India. The Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, Indian Coast Guard, and paramilitary forces will organize these events. One significant venue will be the ancestral home of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay in Kanthalpara, Naihati, West Bengal, now known as 'Bankim Bhawan Gaveshana Kendra'.
Military Displays and Marching Contingents
The parade will feature 18 marching contingents and 13 bands showcasing the country's military strength. Among the seven Army contingents, the animal contingent will draw special attention. It includes Zansker ponies, Bacterian camels, and native Indian-bred dogs like Mudhol Hound, Rampur Hound, and Rajapalayam with their handlers. The newly-raised Bhairav contingent will also make its debut.
Advanced Technology on Display
Mechanized columns will highlight cutting-edge military technology. Key attractions include robotic mules, unmanned ground vehicles, the Shaktiban artillery regiment, Brahmos cruise missiles, Akash missiles, Drone Shakti, and Glacier all-terrain vehicles. The Indian Army will present a Mounted Column of 61 Cavalry and a Battle Array Formation.
Aerial Spectacle with Fighter Jets
The flypast will captivate spectators with various aircraft formations. Rafale, Su-30, and MiG-29 fighters will soar through the sky alongside P8i reconnaissance aircraft and C-295 tactical transport planes. Helicopters like Apache, LCH (Light Combat Helicopter), ALH (Advanced Light Helicopter), and Mi-17 choppers will complete the aerial display.
Special Guests and Tableaux
Around 10,000 special guests from diverse backgrounds have received invitations to witness the parade. These include individuals recognized for exemplary work in technology, innovation, start-ups, self-help groups, and top performers in various fields.
A total of 30 tableaux will roll down Kartavya Path, comprising 17 from states and union territories and 13 from ministries, departments, and services. The Ministry of Culture's tableau, titled 'Vande Mataram: The Soul-Cry of a Nation', will anchor the central theme. The Department of Military Affairs will present a tri-services tableau on Operation Sindoor, symbolizing jointness. The Indian Air Force's veterans' tableau is expected to attract significant attention.
State Tableaux Blend Tradition and Innovation
Several state tableaux will highlight themes that merge tradition with modern advancements:
- Odisha presents 'Soil to Silicon', reflecting growth rooted in traditional values.
- Tamil Nadu showcases India's emergence as an electric vehicle manufacturing hub.
- Kerala highlights its Water Metro project and 100% digital governance initiatives.
- Nagaland features the Hornbill Festival as a marker of culture, tourism, and self-reliance.
International Dignitaries as Chief Guests
President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, will serve as the chief guests at the parade. Their presence underscores the international significance of the event.
This Republic Day parade promises to be a memorable celebration of India's heritage, military strength, and technological progress, all unified under the enduring spirit of Vande Mataram.
