Congress MP Demands Justice for Deceased Sportspersons
Congress Member of Parliament Deepender Hooda declared on Sunday that he would introduce an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha to address the tragic deaths of two young sportspersons in Haryana. During a press conference held in Rohtak, Hooda directly blamed the state government for the fatalities and demanded immediate compensation for the affected families.
Political Action Planned for Parliament Session
The Rajya Sabha MP confirmed he would raise this critical issue when the winter session of Parliament commences on Monday. Deepender Hooda specifically announced his intention to file an adjournment motion to ensure the matter receives urgent attention from the central government. He attended multiple events in Rohtak throughout the day, consistently highlighting the administration's failure in protecting athletes.
The BJP-led Haryana government bears complete responsibility for these preventable deaths, Hooda asserted during his media interaction. He revealed shocking details about fund mismanagement, stating that Rs 18.5 lakh allocated from his MP Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) funds for stadium repairs remained unused, trapped in bureaucratic paperwork instead of being utilized for critical safety improvements.
Systemic Neglect and Demands for Accountability
"The BJP government should publicly apologize to these players and their families for their catastrophic failure," Hooda stated emphatically. "They haven't managed to repair existing sports facilities in eleven years, let alone construct new ones. Despite providing necessary funds, nobody even bothered to inspect the dangerously rusted basketball poles that contributed to this tragedy."
The Congress leader framed the government's inaction as a serious breach of privilege, emphasizing that Hardik was a national-level player, making this incident a matter of national importance. He warned that the injustice occurring in Lakhanmajra would echo throughout the country's highest legislative body until proper resolution is achieved.
Hooda outlined three non-negotiable demands: providing government employment and financial support to the bereaved families, taking disciplinary action against officials who misused MP funds, and immediately releasing budgets to repair sports infrastructure developed during his tenure. He pledged to continuously pressure the government until all conditions are met and announced his proposal for constructing an indoor stadium in Lakhanmajra named after national player Hardik to inspire future generations of athletes.
