A social activist has raised serious concerns over the deteriorating condition of rural roads in Bhiwani district, prompting a complaint to the Deputy Commissioner during a Samadhan Shivir organized by the district administration.
Activist Highlights Neglect of Link Roads
Ishwar Singh Maan, a social activist and former zila parishad member, submitted a written complaint to the Deputy Commissioner, alleging that link roads connecting villages are virtually non-existent. He stated that the poor state of these roads has caused immense hardship for commuters, especially during the monsoon season when they turn into muddy puddles.
Maan pointed out that although the authorities had allocated funds for patch repairs, contractors have shown little interest in completing the work. The roads, maintained by the zila parishad and the marketing board in some villages, have become a source of severe resentment among local residents.
Three Major Stretches in Deplorable Condition
The activist highlighted three major link roads in Bhiwani district that are in a particularly bad shape. The stretch from Devrala village to Hansa village has completely deteriorated over the past year. Similarly, the road from Talu village near the waterworks to Kungar village is damaged at multiple points. Maan noted that the zila parishad had prepared an estimate and awarded a tender, but the contractor has yet to begin work.
Furthermore, the road from Hansa to Sidhanwa village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the marketing board, has been abandoned by the contractor. As a result, villagers are forced to take long detours through other villages to reach their destinations.
Urgent Appeal for Action
Maan urged senior officials to initiate repair works on a war footing to address the crisis. In response, officials assured the activist that the issue would be taken up on a priority basis. The complaint has drawn attention to the urgent need for infrastructure improvements in rural Bhiwani.
