Patna: Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (Buidco) has constituted dedicated teams to ensure rapid drainage of rainwater across Patna, Danapur, Phulwarisharif, Khagaul and adjoining urban areas during the monsoon season.
Detailed Guidelines Issued
Buidco managing director Animesh Kumar Parashar asked officials to maintain strict accountability and issued detailed guidelines for effective monsoon management. He emphasized the importance of preparedness to avoid waterlogging.
Pumping Stations Fully Serviced
All permanent and temporary drainage pumping stations have been fully serviced, with repairs of motors, pumps and transformers completed. A full trial run of the entire system is scheduled for May 30 to confirm complete operational readiness, Parashar said.
Deployment of Officials
Officials from project directors to junior engineers have been deployed at every pumping station. During the monsoon, engineers will remain stationed on-site under a camp arrangement, maintain daily logbooks and closely monitor diesel stocks. The responsibility has also been brought under disaster management protocols.
Emergency Backup Arrangements
Parashar said emergency backup arrangements had been strengthened. In case of power failure, DG sets and diesel engine-operated pumps would be activated immediately. Adequate stocks of tools, diesel, batteries and grease have been stored, along with alternative lighting arrangements at critical points.
Coordination with Civic Bodies
Buidco has also coordinated with Patna Municipal Corporation, Danapur, Phulwarisharif and Khagaul civic bodies, besides PESU, to ensure regular drain cleaning and waste removal around pumping stations.
Strict Action Against Negligence
Strict action will be recommended against any official found negligent during the monsoon period, which will continue till October, Parashar said. This measure aims to ensure accountability and efficient monsoon management.
