Jaipur police on Saturday arrested a Delhi-based man for allegedly assisting a woman accused in a sextortion case, in which an IT company owner was blackmailed using objectionable photographs and videos, officials said.
Accused Identified
Police have identified the accused as Dheeraj Kumar (35), a resident of Dwarka in Delhi. The case came to light after complainant Vimal Kumar Daga approached Mahesh Nagar police station on April 29, alleging that a woman was demanding money while threatening to circulate obscene and objectionable material.
Investigation Details
According to DCP (South) Rajarshi Raj, based on the complaint, police registered an FIR and launched an investigation. Officials said the accused woman, identified as Disha Babla, had come into contact with the complainant while interning at his IT company. Investigators alleged that she later began extorting him by threatening to send his photographs and videos to colleagues and acquaintances.
A special investigation team was formed under the supervision of Additional DCP Lalit Kishore Sharma and ACP Sodala Sunil Prasad Sharma, led by Mahesh Nagar SHO Suresh Kumar. The team used technical and digital evidence to trace those allegedly involved in the racket.
Arrest and Ongoing Probe
Police said the investigation revealed the involvement of Dheeraj, who allegedly acted as an associate of the woman accused in carrying out the extortion. Acting on the evidence collected during the probe, police arrested him from Delhi. Further investigation is under way to determine the full extent of the alleged sextortion network and identify any other persons involved.
