Dhanbad: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Aditya Ranjan and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prabhat Kumar officially launched the annual firing proficiency and marksmanship campaign at the firing range of Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP)-3, located behind the Bhuinfod temple, on Saturday. The event marked the beginning of a comprehensive training initiative aimed at enhancing the operational readiness of police personnel.
Demonstration of Shooting Skills
During the inauguration, Ranjan and Kumar, along with other senior officers, demonstrated their shooting skills at the range. The DC emphasized that the training is designed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of police forces in real-life scenarios.
Infrastructure Review and Improvements
Ranjan conducted a thorough inspection of the firing range's condition and directed officials to undertake necessary improvements to its infrastructure. This step is intended to provide a more conducive environment for training exercises.
Campaign Duration and Participation
The campaign will continue until June 30, as stated by SSP Kumar. A total of 2,586 police officers and jawans are scheduled to participate in the program. Throughout the campaign, participants will engage in firing drills from multiple positions to simulate diverse operational conditions.
Weapons and Training Focus
The exercise includes training on a variety of modern firearms, such as INSAS rifles, carbines, AK-47 rifles, pistols, and other contemporary weapons. SSP Kumar highlighted that live-fire practice helps personnel overcome the fear of recoil, improves breathing control, enhances trigger discipline, and refines shooting techniques.
Performance Evaluation
Each participant's performance will be assessed against established benchmarks. Based on the evaluation, additional training will be provided wherever necessary to ensure all personnel meet the required standards of marksmanship.
