Garhwa: Show cause notices have been served to 66 teachers from 16 +2 high schools and 20 high schools across Garhwa district due to poor performance in the intermediate and matriculation examinations of 2026. District Education Officer (DEO) Qaiser Raza issued these notices on Saturday, warning of strict action if their responses are found unsatisfactory.

“The education department is treating the poor results of matric and intermediate exams with utmost seriousness. Following the instructions of School Education and Literacy Department Secretary Uma Shankar Singh, strict measures, including salary suspension, will be taken against the concerned teachers,” DEO Raza stated.
District School Statistics
Garhwa district has a total of 122 high schools and 38 +2 schools. Among these, 554 Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT) work in high schools, while 202 Post Graduate Teachers (PGT) are employed in +2 schools. The district’s ranking at the state level has been below expectations across all three faculties—arts, science, and commerce.

Sources in the district education department confirmed these rankings, highlighting the need for improvement in academic performance across the board. The department is now awaiting responses from the notified teachers to decide on further disciplinary actions.
