JAISALMER: As part of the Centre’s Operation Clean to strengthen security along the India-Pakistan international border, a major crackdown has been launched against illegal constructions and encroachments in Jaisalmer district.
Joint teams of the district administration and police are conducting an extensive survey of border villages, while action against unauthorised structures has been intensified.
Madrasa Demolished Near Border
On Wednesday, the administration carried out a major operation in Kalron Ki Dhani under Nachna police station limits, demolishing an under-construction illegal madrasa using bulldozers. The structure was reportedly coming up within around 15km of the international border. Senior officials from the administration and police were present during the operation, and adequate security arrangements were made.
Officials said the structure, located in the border Bahla region, was being constructed without mandatory approvals. After verification, it was removed using JCB machines as part of the anti-encroachment drive.
Police and District Administration Statements
Superintendent of police Abhishek Shivhare confirmed the action, stating that unauthorised construction activity in the sensitive border area was removed on the directions of the district administration. He added that a detailed survey of illegal constructions, encroachments and other suspicious activities is underway within the 0–50km border belt.
District collector Anupama Jorwal said that unauthorised and suspicious permanent structures are being identified across 102 villages and hamlets along the border. The detailed survey report will be submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
She said the campaign is being carried out with utmost seriousness to curb illegal settlements, smuggling and other security-related challenges in the border region, and warned that illegal constructions in sensitive areas will not be tolerated.
Notably, about a week ago, another illegal encroachment on government land in the Ramgarh–Tanot border sector of Jaisalmer district was demolished as part of the ongoing enforcement drive.
