On International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Khanna police organised a massive rally and awareness campaign led by Khanna SSP Darpan Ahluwalia. The event aimed to sensitise the public about the harmful effects of drugs and promote a drug-free society.
Rally Route and Participation
The awareness rally started from GTB Market and concluded at the bus stand. Participants included SP (D) Khanna Pawanjeet Chaudhary, members of the Anti-Drug Federation, police officers, and a large number of social activists. During the march, people were educated about the dangers of drug abuse, and a strong message was conveyed for collective efforts to create a drug-free society.
SSP Ahluwalia's Appeal
SSP Darpan Ahluwalia emphasised that police action alone is insufficient to eradicate the drug menace. He stated, "Active participation of every section of society is crucial for its complete elimination." He urged the public to share any information regarding suspected drug trafficking or related activities on the Punjab Police portal ‘Safe Punjab’, assuring that the identity of informants would remain completely confidential.
Engagement with Community
Police officers and Anti-Drug Federation members interacted with shopkeepers, passers-by, and youth, urging them to stay away from drugs and motivate others to shun this social evil. SP (D) Pawanjeet Chaudhary also appealed to the youth to focus on education, sports, and social activities, contributing towards building a healthy and responsible society.
Call for Collective Action
The campaign underscored the importance of community involvement in combating drug abuse. By leveraging the Safe Punjab portal, the police aim to gather intelligence while protecting informants' identities. The rally served as a platform to reinforce the message that a drug-free society is achievable through joint efforts.
