The Madhya Pradesh High Court has issued bailable warrants against three senior officials of the state's Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) department. The warrants were issued by Justice Vivek Mishra in response to a contempt petition. The officials named in the order include Principal Secretary Raghvendra Kumar Singh, Commissioner Dileep Kumar Singh, and Rahul Dubey, the General Manager of the District Industries Centre (DIC) in Rewa. They have been directed to appear before the court on May 15.
Background of the Contempt Petition
The contempt petition was filed by Jai Prakash Tiwari, who serves as an Assistant Manager at DIC Rewa. Tiwari claimed that he was eligible for promotion to the post of Manager, but the department had failed to make a decision on his case. He had previously approached the High Court seeking directions for his promotion.
Court Order and Non-Compliance
In November 2024, the court had directed the respondent officials to grant Tiwari his promotion within 90 days. The three officials were named as respondents in the petition. However, during the hearing on the alleged non-compliance of this order, notices were issued to the officials, but they failed to appear before the court. Taking note of their absence, the court issued bailable warrants and ordered them to remain present on the next hearing date, which is May 15.
Next Steps
The case is scheduled for further hearing on May 15, when the officials are expected to appear in court. The High Court has made it clear that their presence is mandatory. The contempt petition highlights the importance of adhering to court orders, especially in matters related to employee promotions and departmental decisions.
