MYSURU: Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil has decided to grant autonomy to the Mysuru Jayadeva Hospital, empowering it to make independent decisions on various administrative matters, including recruitment to fill existing vacancies. Speaking to reporters, the minister noted that the Mysuru Jayadeva Unit has operated under centralized authority since its inception in 2010, with administrative functions managed from Bengaluru. Moving forward, decision-making powers will be transferred to the Mysuru Unit's Medical Superintendent, who will have the authority to handle appointments and projects without requiring external approval. A separate funding mechanism will also be established.
The minister further stated that he will soon issue an order to provide similar autonomy to the Jayadeva Units in both Mysuru and Kalaburagi. Dr. K.S. Sadananda currently serves as the Medical Superintendent of the Mysuru Unit.
