A total of 102 candidates filed nominations for elections to the 17 wards of the Jalalabad Municipal Council by the close of nominations on Thursday. According to official sources, the candidates include 23 from the Congress, 21 from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), 18 from the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), 20 from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and 20 Independents.
Election Arrangements Completed
Jalalabad Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kanwarjit Singh Mann confirmed that all arrangements for the elections have been finalized. A total of 33 polling booths have been set up to accommodate nearly 28,000 voters. Polling is scheduled for July 5, with counting to take place immediately after voting ends.
Earlier Postponement
Officials noted that the Jalalabad municipal elections were previously postponed because the final electoral rolls for some wards were not received in time. The delay necessitated rescheduling to ensure accurate voter lists.
