Protests erupted in Bhopal on Monday over an alleged cow slaughter controversy. Activists from Karni Sena and Bajrang Dal gathered outside the Bhopal Municipal Corporation office. Their demonstration turned aggressive as the day progressed.
Demands for Abattoir Demolition
The protestors made a clear demand. They want the modern abattoir demolished. This facility opened just last November. The protestors insist the slaughterhouse must be razed completely.
Official Response and Accountability
BMC chairman Kishan Suryavanshi responded to the protests. He issued a strong statement. Narela MLA Vishwas Sarang also spoke out. Both leaders promised strict action against anyone involved in illegal cow slaughter or meat trade.
They emphasized that accountability would extend beyond just the perpetrators. Officials responsible for monitoring abattoirs will also face consequences. Their role is now under serious scrutiny.
Investigation Developments
The district administration is buzzing with activity. Rumors suggest possible action against properties belonging to Aslam Chamda. He is the alleged prime accused in this case.
The Meat Seizure Incident
This controversy began on December 17. Members of a Right-wing organization intercepted a container truck near the police headquarters. The incident occurred in the Jehangirabad police station area.
The truck was loaded with meat. Authorities discovered 26.5 tonnes of meat inside the container. Forensic examination followed at Veterinary College in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.
The forensic report confirmed the meat came from a cow or its progeny. This is strictly prohibited under Indian law. Police investigation revealed a crucial connection.
Slaughterhouse Connection
The seized consignment was linked to the BMC-operated Jinsi slaughterhouse. Following this discovery, the civic body took immediate action. They sealed the facility last Thursday.
Police officials remain tight-lipped about the ongoing investigation. They declined to reveal specific details when contacted. However, reports indicate the probe is expanding its focus.
Investigators are now examining the alleged role of BMC officials. Other inspectors at the abattoir are also under investigation. The case continues to develop as authorities pursue all leads.
