BJP Assam Launches Public Consultation for 2026 Vision Document
BJP Assam Seeks Public Input for 2026 Election Manifesto

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam has officially begun crafting its manifesto, termed the 'Vision Document' or 'Sankalp Patra', for the crucial 2026 state assembly elections. In a significant move, the party has placed public aspirations at the core of this process, launching a wide-ranging consultation drive to gather inputs directly from citizens.

Public Invited to Shape BJP's Election Blueprint

State BJP president Dilip Saikia formally unveiled the initiative on Saturday at the party's state headquarters, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhavan in Guwahati. He announced multiple channels for the public to submit their suggestions, including missed call numbers, QR codes, email, and the party's official website.

"Suggestion boxes will be placed across the state," Saikia stated. He assured that after collecting all inputs, a dedicated drafting committee would meticulously review and incorporate them. The goal, he emphasized, is to ensure the final manifesto "resonates fully with the will and aspirations of the people of Assam." He urged every citizen to actively participate in this collaborative exercise.

Showcasing Development & Governance Record

Saikia used the platform to highlight the state's progress under the BJP government. He claimed that Assam is now among India's fastest-developing states, with a development growth rate of 45%. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership for the effective implementation of central welfare schemes.

He listed several flagship programs like the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Vikas Yojana, Garib Kalyan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and Pradhan Mantri Anna Suraksha Yojana. According to Saikia, these schemes have moved beyond paper and delivered real benefits to farmers, the poor, and the homeless. He presented a striking statistic: poverty has allegedly fallen from 34% during the Congress rule to 12% at present.

Industrial Push and State-Specific Initiatives

The party also showcased industrialization as a key achievement. Saikia pointed to projects like the semiconductor manufacturing unit in Jagiroad, the expansion of the Namrup fertiliser plant, and the bamboo-based bio-ethanol project at the Numaligarh Refinery as evidence of the Centre's commitment to transforming Assam into a major industrial hub.

Praising Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Saikia said his leadership has brought "transformational change and comprehensive development." He highlighted state-specific initiatives such as the creation of a separate ministry for indigenous faith and culture, the establishment of the chief minister’s secretariat in Dibrugarh, and the formation of the Barak development department.

Saikia also mentioned the recently passed Prohibition of Polygamy and Child Marriage Act, 2025, stating it would play a decisive role in safeguarding Assamese identity amid demographic challenges.

Campaign Built on Governance and Direct Outreach

In his concluding remarks, Saikia asserted that since coming to power in 2016, the BJP government has launched numerous landmark initiatives in development, growth, and industrialization. He stated the party has taken decisive steps to protect Assam's jati, mati, bheti (identity, land, and hearth) while also preserving and promoting its culture and heritage in a sustained manner.

By launching this public consultation for its Vision Document, the BJP has clearly signaled its campaign strategy for the 2026 elections. The party aims to build its platform not just on its perceived governance record but also on a direct appeal to the people, inviting them to co-create the manifesto that will guide its future promises.
