Massive BJP Rally in Dhubri Demands Action Against Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi
Thousands of Bharatiya Janata Party supporters from across Dhubri district flooded the streets on Sunday, staging a vigorous protest against Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president and Member of Parliament Gaurav Gogoi. The demonstration was organized in response to serious allegations linking Gogoi and his family members to Pakistan, as recently highlighted by Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Protest Route and Slogans Echo Through the District
The rally commenced from the BJP district head office and marched towards Panchmore, culminating in front of the iconic Netaji statue. For over an hour, the air resonated with loud and persistent slogans condemning the Congress leader. Chants of ‘Gaurav Gogoi Murdabad’ and demands for his immediate arrest, such as ‘Gaurav Gogoiak Geraftar Korok’, dominated the protest, reflecting the participants' strong sentiments.
BJP Leaders Level Serious Allegations Against Gogoi
Dhubri district BJP president Ranjit Kumar Ray addressed the media during the event, making explosive claims about Gogoi's family background. Ray asserted that three out of four members in Gaurav Gogoi's family are not Indian Ahom, Indian, or Hindu, raising questions about their national identity. Furthermore, he emphasized the alleged connections between Gogoi, his wife, and Pakistan, as previously discussed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a press conference.
"Given these grave allegations, Gaurav Gogoi should be immediately put behind bars to ensure national security," Ray stated emphatically. The protest underscores the escalating political tensions in Assam, with the BJP leveraging these accusations to challenge the opposition Congress party ahead of crucial electoral battles.
