BJP Urges Assam's Indigenous Communities to Abandon Congress Party
In a significant political development in Guwahati, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made a fervent appeal to patriots and indigenous people across Assam to sever ties with the Indian National Congress. The BJP has leveled serious allegations that the Congress party is currently being steered by leaders who are systematically prioritizing the interests of Bangladesh-origin migrant Muslims over the rights and welfare of the state's native indigenous populations.
Targeted Allegations Against Congress Leadership
BJP state spokesperson Kamal Kumar Medhi launched a direct attack on two prominent Congress figures: Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi and Member of Parliament Rakibul Hussain. Medhi asserted that for these leaders, the interest of the indigenous people of Assam holds no value whatsoever. He elaborated by stating that through their alignment with Bangladesh-origin migrant Muslim communities, they are actively attempting to suppress and marginalize the indigenous communities that have long called Assam their home.
Medhi further escalated his accusations by claiming that Gogoi and Hussain are leading what he described as a long-term conspiracy. According to him, this conspiracy involves aggressive elements from the Bangladesh-origin migrant Muslim population who are allegedly unleashing various forms of so-called jihadist attacks upon both indigenous Assamese people and Indian-origin citizens residing in the state.
Alleged Hidden Agenda and Electoral Strategy
The BJP spokesperson did not stop at mere allegations of bias. He posited that the objective of Congress leaders Gogoi and Hussain extends beyond mere electoral victory. Medhi alleged they are pursuing a hidden agenda specifically within Bangladesh-origin migrant Muslim majority areas, using the cover of electoral politics to advance this undisclosed plan.
Thus, they have now completely transformed the Congress into a party of such people, Medhi declared. He warned that by bringing these elements into the party fold, Congress leaders are hatching fresh conspiracies aimed at launching new attacks against indigenous and Indian-origin citizens. This transformation, according to the BJP, necessitates a decisive response from the indigenous populace.
Call to Action and Supporting Claims
In light of these grave allegations, Kamal Kumar Medhi issued a clear call to action. He urged that no indigenous person who loves Assam and the nation should remain a member of the Congress party any longer. This appeal is framed as a patriotic duty to protect the state's demographic and cultural integrity.
To substantiate his claims, Medhi pointed to the recent process of ticket distribution for the upcoming Assam assembly elections. He revealed that of the 720 applications submitted by Congress ticket aspirants, more than 600 originated from what he termed only one particular unfamiliar community. This statistic, according to the BJP, serves as tangible evidence of the alleged disproportionate influence and prioritization within the Congress party's candidate selection process, further fueling concerns about the sidelining of indigenous representation.
The BJP's strong statements underscore the intensifying political rhetoric in Assam as election season approaches, with issues of identity, migration, and representation taking center stage in the political discourse.
