BRS Leaders Slam Congress Government Over Delayed Rythu Bharosa Payments to Farmers
In a sharp escalation of political rhetoric, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao and senior leader T Harish Rao on Thursday demanded immediate clarification from the Telangana state government regarding the disbursement of Rythu Bharosa financial assistance to farmers. This demand comes directly after Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced that the funds would only be credited to bank accounts following the conclusion of the upcoming municipal elections.
Elections Should Not Impede Farmer Welfare, Assert BRS Leaders
Both leaders vehemently asserted that the municipal elections pose no legitimate impediment to releasing the crucial funds. KT Rama Rao, popularly known as KTR, accused the Chief Minister of habitually making false promises during election cycles solely to secure votes. "The CM has a well-documented history of making hollow promises before elections to garner support. This pattern was clearly evident in the previous assembly elections and the Lok Sabha polls. The voters of Telangana must not allow themselves to be deceived once again in these municipal elections," KTR stated forcefully while addressing an energetic roadshow in Sircilla municipality.
With the nomination process now complete, the BRS officially launched its campaign for the municipal elections on Thursday. KTR actively participated in a series of roadshows at key locations including Hanuman temple chowrasta, the new bus stand, the Telangana Thalli statue, and Venkampet within the Sircilla municipality. Simultaneously, Harish Rao conducted his own campaign activities through roadshows at Pragnapur in the Gajwel constituency.
Allegations of Halted Welfare and Anti-Farmer Policies
KTR further leveled serious allegations against the Congress government, claiming it has systematically halted several vital welfare schemes since assuming power. He specifically pointed to the discontinuation of programs like Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak, alongside reneging on numerous other pre-election commitments. Additionally, KTR accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of conspiring to dismantle certain districts that were established during the former BRS regime. He boldly challenged the Congress party to openly seek votes after announcing such a controversial move.
Harish Rao reinforced the party's stance by demanding that the Rythu Bharosa payments be released without further delay, specifically before February 11. He announced that the BRS would formally write to the State Election Commission, urging them to ensure that the disbursement of farmer assistance is not unjustly stalled due to the electoral process.
Harish Rao also branded the current government as 'anti-farmer,' citing critical issues such as severe fertiliser shortages and significant lapses in the paddy procurement system. He lamented that developmental progress in key areas like Gajwel and Pragnapur has completely stalled since the Congress administration took office, leaving local communities in a state of neglect.
The intensifying political clash underscores the high stakes of the upcoming municipal elections, with farmer welfare and government accountability emerging as central themes in the BRS campaign strategy.
