Harish Rao Slams CM Revanth Reddy for 'Torrent of Lies' and Vulgar Language in Assembly
Ex-minister demands apology from CM Revanth for assembly language

Hyderabad witnessed a fresh political firestorm as former minister and senior BRS leader T Harish Rao launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accusing him of unleashing a torrent of lies and using abusive language in the legislative assembly. The criticism came in response to the Chief Minister's speech on Saturday, which Rao claimed was filled with falsehoods and vulgarity.

Demand for Apology Over 'Obscene' Language

In a strongly-worded statement, Harish Rao demanded an unconditional apology from the Chief Minister for his conduct. He described the assembly as a temple of democracy and stated that the use of vulgar language would not be tolerated by a civilized society. Rao specifically pointed to phrases like 'slit the tongue' used by Revanth Reddy.

The former minister also expressed disappointment that the assembly Speaker did not intervene when such language was used, an act he said brought shame to society. He emphasized that despite the CM's claim that there was no room for lies in the House, his speech was a continuous propagation of falsehoods.

Disputing Claims on Irrigation Projects

Harish Rao systematically countered several claims made by the Chief Minister regarding key irrigation projects. He labeled as disgraceful Revanth Reddy taking credit for the National Green Tribunal's (NGT) stay on the Rayalaseema lift irrigation scheme. Rao clarified that the legal outcome was a direct result of the BRS party's own legal battle.

Furthermore, he dismissed as sheer nonsense the assertion that the Congress government initiated the Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation project. Rao provided a timeline, noting that while the Congress government issued a CMO note in 2009 and a Government Order (GO) for the Detailed Project Report (DPR) in 2014, it took them five years just to issue that GO. He did, however, confirm that the reduction of the project's capacity to 45 TMC, as stated by the CM and irrigation minister in the assembly, was true.

Questioning Commitment to Telangana Movement

The BRS leader also took a personal dig at the Chief Minister's political legacy. He stated that Revanth Reddy, who never participated in the Telangana statehood movement, questioning the integrity of movement stalwart and former CM K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), was akin to spitting at the sun.

Harish Rao connected past and present struggles, highlighting that KCR's past declaration in Nalgonda against handing over projects to the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) was a resolution. He stated that the current resolution against granting permissions for the construction of Polavaram and Nallamala Sagar projects is a continuation of the BRS's fight for the state's water rights.

The sharp rebuttal from the senior BRS figure sets the stage for intensified political confrontation in Telangana, focusing on governance claims, developmental legacy, and parliamentary decorum.
