Maharashtra CM Unveils Industrial Power Stability Plan and Major Investment Influx
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis declared on Sunday that the Maharashtra government is actively formulating strategies to maintain stable industrial power rates over the next five years. This initiative aims to significantly reduce the cost of doing business and bolster efforts to secure approximately Rs 55,000 crore in investments for five districts in north Maharashtra. These investments stem from agreements finalized during the Chief Minister's recent participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Crackdown on Extortion and Goondaism in Industrial Zones
In a stern warning, Fadnavis addressed so-called 'Mathadi' union leaders and criminal elements, cautioning them against resorting to goondaism and extortion practices within industrial areas. He emphasized a zero-tolerance policy, stating that such activities would be met with severe legal consequences. The Chief Minister made these remarks while inaugurating a new industrial plant at the Supa Industrial Estate in Ahilyanagar.
"We are implementing various measures to enhance the ease of doing business," Fadnavis stated. "Our goal is to provide substantial relief to entrepreneurs by guaranteeing a stable power tariff for the upcoming five-year period. We are also exploring additional ideas to potentially lower the power tariff across the entire state." The current tariff structure by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has been in effect since June 2025.
Addressing Regional Imbalance and Law & Order
Fadnavis highlighted that industrial development in Maharashtra has been uneven, predominantly concentrated in Mumbai, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, and Pune. "We are now strategically extending industrial growth to other regions," he affirmed. Regarding law and order, he reiterated, "There will be absolutely zero tolerance for herd mentality and goondaism in any of the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) areas statewide. Individuals with legitimate concerns are encouraged to approach the appropriate regulators."
Nashik Airport Expansion and Investment Breakdown
Speaking at the foundation ceremony for the extension of the integrated building at Nashik Airport, Fadnavis revealed, "The new facility will be three times larger than the current airport and will serve as a crucial launchpad for Nashik's industrial sector." He detailed that the Rs 55,000 crore investment attracted through the Davos forum will be distributed, with Rs 11,519 crore allocated to Ahilyanagar district and Rs 13,000 crore to Nashik district.
"For some time, industrial growth in Nashik had stagnated. However, a transformative change is now imminent," Fadnavis commented. "Since the residents of Nashik have provided us (BJP) with immense support, it is our duty to reciprocate by driving substantial development to the region."
International Jain Festival and Community Contributions
The Chief Minister also attended the International Panchakalyanak Pratishtha and Mahamastakabhishek festival at Namokar Tirth in Malsane village, Chandwad taluka, located along the Mumbai-Agra highway. He expressed, "Tirthankaras have illuminated the path of life through self-realization for all. The Namokar Tirth, established amidst the Sahyadri mountains in Nashik district where this International Panchkalyanak festival is being celebrated, will be recognized as a new epicenter of devotion."
Fadnavis praised the Jain community, noting, "The Jain community has made remarkable contributions to the nation's development. They generate the largest share of GDP in the country and are also known for their generous philanthropic donations."
