The Tamil Nadu government has announced free entry to all zoos across the state on June 21 and 22 to commemorate the birthday of Chief Minister Joseph Vijay. The Chief Minister's birthday falls on June 22, and the two-day waiver is part of the administration's celebratory measures.
This initiative aims to allow families and children to enjoy the zoological parks without any entry fee, encouraging public participation in the festivities. The announcement was made by the state's forest and environment department, which oversees the management of zoos.
Visitors can avail of this offer at all major zoos in Tamil Nadu, including the Arignar Anna Zoological Park in Chennai, the Coimbatore Zoo, and the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust. The free entry applies to both adults and children, though some special attractions or activities within the zoos may still require separate tickets.
The decision has been welcomed by residents, who see it as a thoughtful gesture to make the celebrations inclusive. However, the government has urged visitors to follow all park rules and maintain discipline during their visit. The free entry is expected to draw large crowds, and authorities have made arrangements for crowd management and safety.
