Gurgaon Intensifies Crackdown on Unauthorized Colonies with Major Demolition Drive

In a decisive move to curb unplanned urban sprawl, the District Town Planning (DTP) enforcement wing in Gurgaon executed a rigorous demolition drive targeting illegal colonies and unauthorized structures across multiple city locations on February 11 and 13. This operation, supported by police teams from Sector 10A and Bilaspur stations, focused on dismantling foundation-level construction, boundary walls, and internal roads in areas including Sadhrana, Bohra Kalan, Jamalpur, and Sector 89.

Targeted Actions in Sadhrana and Sector 89

Acting on complaints lodged through the chief minister's grievance window, enforcement teams descended upon the revenue estate of village Sadhrana on February 13. In one unauthorized colony, they demolished three damp proof course foundations and removed the earthen road network, effectively halting further construction and plot sales. In a separate illegal colony within the same village, officials took down 13 damp proof course foundations and cleared internal roads, putting a stop to ongoing development work.

On the same day, the crackdown extended to Wood View Residency, a licensed colony in Sector 89 developed by Orris Pvt Ltd. Here, an unauthorized site office constructed on licensed land without approval was identified and demolished. Officials emphasized that this structure violated sanctioned plans and was erected without permission. "Such structures often become hubs for illegal sales or mislead potential buyers. We are ensuring strict compliance even within licensed colonies," stated an enforcement official, highlighting the broader enforcement strategy.

Earlier Demolitions in Bohra Kalan and Jamalpur

Earlier, on February 11, the enforcement wing demolished two unauthorized colonies in the revenue estates of Bohra Kalan and Jamalpur, under the jurisdiction of Bilaspur police station. At the first site, 11 damp proof course foundations and boundary walls were removed, along with the clearance of earthen road networks. At the second location, 15 damp proof course foundations and demarcation structures were demolished, alongside internal roads, to prevent any further construction activities.

Police presence was robust at all sites to maintain law and order, with officials reporting that the operations proceeded without significant resistance. "Targeting construction at the foundation stage and eliminating access roads is designed to discourage illegal plotting before permanent structures can be established," explained officials, outlining the proactive approach of the drive.

Enhanced Monitoring and Public Advisory

The DTP enforcement wing has announced a stepped-up monitoring regime in developing sectors and revenue estates where unauthorized colonies are frequently reported. In light of these actions, potential buyers are strongly advised to verify all necessary approvals and licenses before investing in plots or under-construction projects. "Action against illegal colonies and unauthorized construction will persist. Our goal is to curb unplanned development and safeguard homebuyers from fraudulent land transactions," affirmed an official, reinforcing the commitment to urban planning integrity.

This enforcement drive underscores Gurgaon's ongoing efforts to combat illegal urbanization, protect consumers, and promote regulated development in the rapidly expanding city.
