Gurgaon Gripped by Major Traffic Gridlock After BJP Leader's Visit
Traffic in Gurgaon ground to a complete standstill on Monday. The city experienced hours of severe congestion following the visit of newly appointed BJP national working president Nitin Nabin to the party office near Signature Towers crossing.
Key Roads Brought to a Halt
The BJP office's location close to the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway triggered massive traffic snarls across multiple areas. Major roads affected included Sohna Road, Old Railway Road, and routes near Rajiv Chowk. Shivaji Nagar, Shanti Nagar Road, Udyog Vihar, Shankar Chowk, and Guru Dronacharya-Cyber City Road also saw heavy congestion.
With several VIPs attending the event, including Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, thousands of officegoers found themselves stranded during peak hours. The national highway slowed to a crawl, with vehicles moving at a snail's pace for several minutes at a time.
Commuters Voice Frustration Over Poor Planning
A senior police officer, speaking anonymously, confirmed the congestion resulted directly from prolonged VIP movement. Many commuters blamed inadequate planning and lack of traffic management for the chaos.
"The BJP function should have been scheduled on a weekend or a day with lighter traffic," said Ronit Bhasin, a resident of Sector 28. "Mondays already witness monster traffic jams in Gurgaon."
The situation deteriorated as the VIP program continued throughout the day. Commuters remained stuck in long queues until evening, with heavy congestion reported on Gurgaon-Sohna Road around 7 PM, worsening the evening peak-hour traffic.
Nabin's Message to Youth
Nitin Nabin visited the city to participate in National Youth Day celebrations marking Swami Vivekananda's birth anniversary. He called upon India's youth to lead in building a Viksit Bharat.
"Whenever the nation advances, its momentum is carried by young leaders," Nabin said, referencing Swami Vivekananda's beliefs. He stressed that the country's rise will be driven by young people demonstrating commitment, patience, and clear direction.
The event compounded Gurgaon's routine Monday congestion, leaving residents and officegoers facing unprecedented delays and highlighting ongoing traffic management challenges in the city.
