HSVP Demolishes Congress Leader's House in Gurgaon Amid Protests Over Road Project

Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran carried out a major demolition drive in Gurgaon on Thursday. The operation targeted structures obstructing a new main road between sectors 68 and 69.

Congress functionary Rajesh Yadav saw his house razed during the day-long action. Several other residential buildings also fell to the bulldozers.

Protests and Detentions Mark Demolition Day

Yadav and villagers stood in front of bulldozers to protest the demolition. Police detained Yadav following instructions from HSVP officials.

Locals alleged authorities used force to disperse the crowd. The demolition team resumed work and continued until evening.

Officials demolished approximately 100 rooms and shanties during the operation. The structures stood on government land needed for road construction.

Controversy Over Land Acquisition and Compensation

Rajesh Yadav claimed authorities served no prior notice before demolishing his house. He said the structure had existed for nearly thirty years.

"If the land was acquired, rehabilitation and compensation should have been ensured first," Yadav stated. He noted the matter remains pending in court.

HSVP sub-divisional officer Gyan Chand Saini led the demolition team. Officials said the land acquisition process was complete with compensation awards already issued.

"Villagers can collect their compensation from the land acquisition office," Saini explained. He announced demolition would continue through Friday to clear remaining structures.

Road Project Aims to Ease Traffic Congestion

The proposed road will connect Sohna Road with the Gurgaon–Sohna Highway. HSVP said structures had stalled the project for over 1.5 kilometers.

Once completed, the new road will reduce pressure on Southern Peripheral Road. Residents of sectors 68, 69 and 70 will gain direct access to major highways.

The road will provide better connectivity to the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway and Delhi–Jaipur Highway. HSVP officials emphasized the project's importance for local infrastructure development.

The demolition team arrived at the site near Pareena Micasa Society around 10 am. Bulldozers and police accompanied HSVP officials throughout the operation.
