Hyderabad Family Tragedy: Software Engineer and Two Teenage Children Die in Suspected Suicide Pact

In a heartbreaking incident that has shocked the city, a 38-year-old software engineer and her two teenage children died after jumping in front of a train near Cherlapally in Hyderabad. The suspected suicide pact occurred in the early hours of Saturday, leaving the community in mourning and authorities scrambling to understand the motives behind this devastating loss.

Details of the Deceased and the Incident

The deceased have been identified as P Vijaya (38), her daughter Chetana Reddy (18), and son Vishal Reddy (17). They were residents of Harithavanam Colony in Boduppal, a suburban area of Hyderabad. According to a complaint filed by T Jyothi, the deputy station superintendent of Cherlapally railway station, the tragedy unfolded around 12:40 AM.

Loco pilot Sushain Mahto of a Sanathnagar-bound goods train alerted railway authorities immediately after witnessing the trio being crushed to death. Secunderabad Govt Railway Police (GRP) inspector B Saieashwar Goud rushed to the spot with his team and confirmed the fatalities. He stated, "Preliminary evidence indicates the victims died by suicide. The precise motive is still under investigation."

Suicide Note and Police Investigation

Police discovered Vijaya's parked car near Cherlapally railway station and recovered a suicide note purportedly written by her. In the note addressed to her mother, Vijaya expressed deep despair, writing that she did not like her life despite trying hard. A railway police officer quoted the note, saying, "I can't leave the children, so I am taking them and going. No one is responsible for this."

The GRP has registered a case under BNSS Section 194 (suspicious death), and the bodies were shifted to Gandhi Hospital for autopsy. Inspector Goud added, "The family does not have financial problems. We suspect that personal reasons could be the motive. We are recording the statements of family members."

Background of the Family

Vijaya worked with a private firm near Hi-Tec City, a major IT hub in Hyderabad, while her children were Intermediate students. Her husband, Surender Reddy, is employed with a Dubai-based company and rushed back to Hyderabad upon receiving the tragic news. The police are focusing on personal issues as potential drivers, given the absence of apparent financial struggles.

This incident highlights the urgent need for mental health awareness and support systems in urban areas like Hyderabad, where high-pressure lifestyles can sometimes lead to such extreme outcomes. Authorities continue to investigate, hoping to provide closure to the grieving family and prevent similar tragedies in the future.
