The vandalism occurred during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, causing significant damage to the educational facility.
Principal Reports Substantial Loss of Educational Materials
School principal Mukesh Kumar Thakur confirmed on Friday that the institution, which serves students from classes one through eight, suffered considerable losses due to the fire. "In one of the rooms, the entire bench and desks got completely gutted, and all learning materials kept inside turned into ashes," Thakur stated, highlighting the destruction of essential educational resources.
The principal explained that the school has a total of eight classrooms, with one being severely damaged by the fire while an adjoining room sustained partial burns. "Students of class one sit in both these rooms," he noted, emphasizing how the incident directly affects young learners.
Timely Police Intervention Prevents Greater Disaster
Thakur credited local police with responding promptly to control the dangerous situation. "Had they not arrived on time, the entire school building might have been gutted by the fire," the principal acknowledged, revealing that several buckets of water and sand were required to extinguish the flames.
Local residents first alerted authorities after noticing smoke billowing from the school building, enabling the rapid police response that likely prevented more extensive damage.
Infrastructure Vulnerabilities and Administrative Responsibilities
Sources familiar with the school's condition indicated that the institution lacks a proper boundary wall and has broken windows in multiple classrooms, creating security vulnerabilities that may have facilitated the criminals' access to the campus. A school staff member clarified that infrastructural improvements fall under the jurisdiction of the district administration and education department.
"We will send a report to the government, seeking proper boundary walls and other necessary upgrades," the staff member stated, outlining plans to address the security shortcomings through official channels.
