The Jharkhand High Court has dismissed a petition demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the suspected question paper leak for the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (JSSC-CGL) Examination 2023. This decision comes amidst a prolonged controversy that has left thousands of aspirants in limbo.
Chief Minister's Firm Stance on Transparency
Reacting to the court's order, Chief Minister Hemant Soren made a significant statement on Thursday. He asserted that while a conspiracy might temporarily obscure the truth, it can never completely erase it. Soren shared images on social media platform X of celebrating candidates, captioning them with a message of solidarity.
"The joy on your faces reflects your hard work and commitment," Soren stated. "A conspiracy may cloud the truth for a moment, but it can never erase it." He emphasized that the state government is dedicated to a fair investigation and transparent recruitment processes.
Details of the Examination Controversy
The JSSC-CGL 2023 examination was conducted in two phases—January and September this year. However, the process was soon mired in allegations of a paper leak, leading to legal complications. In response, the state government ordered a probe by the Crime Investigation Department (CID).
Concurrently, the Jharkhand High Court intervened and imposed a stay on the publication of the examination results, pending a resolution to the allegations. This move directly impacted the futures of numerous candidates awaiting their outcomes.
Government's Position and Ongoing Probe
In his address, CM Soren provided an update on the state-ordered investigation. "The state government is conducting an impartial probe into the allegations of a paper leak in this exam, but so far nothing concrete has been found," he revealed.
He also pointed a finger at political opponents, alleging, "A certain section is working around the clock to sabotage every recruitment test for political gain. Our government is focused on conducting all job examinations in a transparent manner." Soren added that the government's probe has already taken strict action against individuals who attempted to compromise the exam's integrity.
Justice for Aspirants and Future Focus
Addressing the candidates directly, the Chief Minister expressed his belief that the High Court's decision served them justice. "Jharkhand HC also understood this and gave you justice while respecting your honest efforts and sentiments," he said.
Reiterating his administration's commitment to the youth, Soren concluded, "Our government is working in a focused manner to provide maximum opportunities for the youth." The path forward for the JSSC-CGL 2023 results now hinges on the findings of the CID investigation and further judicial proceedings, as aspirants hope for a swift and fair conclusion.
