CM Shivakumar Accuses Kumaraswamy of Politicising Bidadi Township Project
Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Saturday accused former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy of politicising the Bidadi township project for personal gain. Speaking to reporters, Shivakumar asserted that around 80 per cent of the affected farmers have willingly come forward to part with their land for the project, and the government will proceed strictly in accordance with the law.
Shivakumar dismissed Kumaraswamy's objections as baseless and motivated by electoral considerations. He emphasised that the Bidadi project is vital for the state's development and will create thousands of jobs. The CM also warned that any attempts to obstruct the project would be dealt with firmly.
The Bidadi township project, a flagship initiative of the state government, aims to develop a modern integrated township on the outskirts of Bengaluru. However, it has faced resistance from some farmers and political leaders, including Kumaraswamy, who have raised concerns over compensation and displacement.
Shivakumar reiterated that the government has already held multiple rounds of consultations with stakeholders and ensured fair compensation. He urged all parties to support the project for Karnataka's progress.
