Hubballi: In a significant political development, Congress Legislative Council chief whip Saleem Ahmed indicated on Sunday that a cabinet expansion in Karnataka is probable following the conclusion of the state's budget session. Speaking to reporters in Hubballi, Ahmed revealed that a formal request has been submitted to the high command proposing that approximately 50% of ministers be assigned to organizational duties. "Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar have both affirmed that the high command's decision is final," Ahmed remarked, highlighting the party's unified front on key matters. He contrasted this with the BJP, accusing it of operating a "Hitler-style regime" and asserting that the Congress upholds democratic principles and freedom of speech among its members.

Ahmed, who is himself an aspirant for a ministerial post, pointed out a longstanding issue of underrepresentation.
