Kerala Congress (Joseph) Stands Firm on Retaining All 10 Assembly Seats

In a significant political development, Kerala Congress (Joseph) chairman P J Joseph has declared that the party is unwavering in its demand to retain all 10 seats it contested in the previous assembly election. This announcement came during his address while presiding over the high-power committee meeting of the party, which was held in Kottayam on Saturday.

Adherence to UDF Guidelines and Candidate Selection Process

Joseph emphasized that the party will strictly follow the UDF's general guideline of selecting candidates based on their winning potential. This approach aims to maximize electoral success and strengthen the party's position within the coalition. During the meeting, it was unanimously decided to entrust the party chief with the responsibility of finalizing the KC(J) candidates after conducting necessary consultations, ensuring a streamlined and strategic selection process.

Sharp Criticism of LDF Government's Agricultural Neglect

In a scathing critique, Joseph pointed to the recent state budget as the latest example of the LDF government's continued neglect of the agricultural sector over the past decade in Kerala. He stated, "The budget contains empty promises and unfeasible suggestions, with no practical proposals to secure the necessary funds for implementing the suggested projects." This remark underscores the party's concerns about the lack of actionable plans and financial backing for agricultural development, highlighting a key area of contention with the ruling government.

Support for Opposition Initiatives and Key Attendees

The meeting also resolved to undertake necessary actions to ensure the success of the ‘Puthuyuga Yatra' led by opposition leader VD Satheesan, demonstrating the party's commitment to collaborative efforts within the opposition. Notable figures who spoke at the gathering included former MP P C Thomas, MLA Mons Joseph, former MP Joy Abraham, former minister T U Kuruvilla, MP Francis George, former MLA Thomas Unniyadan, and Apu John Joseph, reflecting broad participation and support for the party's stance.
