Maurya Highlights Prayagraj's Freedom Struggle Legacy on UP Assembly Eve
Maurya: Prayagraj was centre of freedom movement

Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Keshav Prasad Maurya, emphasized the pivotal role of Prayagraj in India's freedom struggle during a commemorative event held on Wednesday. The event marked the eve of the 139th anniversary of the first meeting of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, which was held at the public library in Amar Sheed Chandra Shekhar Azad Park.

Prayagraj: A Legacy of Sacrifice and Struggle

Maurya stated that Prayagraj served as the centre of the freedom movement and stressed the need to make people aware of the city's glorious history. He was attending an event held on the eve of this historic occasion. The deputy CM reminded the audience that the first meeting of the UP Legislative Assembly took place in Prayagraj on January 8, 1887. He announced plans to celebrate its 150th anniversary in the future.

Highlighting the city's spiritual and historical significance, Maurya noted that sites like Shringverpur Dham, Akshay Vat, and Bharadwaj Rishi Ashram are now shining. He paid homage to the park's namesake, stating, "This CSA Park is the site of the sacrifice of martyr Chandrashekhar Azad. The brave revolutionaries sacrificed their lives for a developed India and let us resolve to fulfil their pledge."

Development Pledge and Political Resolve

Maurya affirmed the government's commitment to Prayagraj's development, declaring, "The coffers of the double-engine govt are always open for Prayagraj." He credited ancestors for putting Prayagraj on the world map and mentioned it was also the workplace of the late Ashok Singhal. The city must be developed for future generations, he asserted.

Shifting to contemporary politics, Maurya addressed the 2024 elections, claiming opposition parties created a false narrative about Prime Minister Narendra Modi abolishing the Constitution. He countered, "The fact was that the Congress was the murderer of the Constitution. The BJP is a devotee of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, and we work for One India, Great India."

Electoral Confidence and Call to Action

Expressing strong electoral confidence, the deputy CM predicted that the BJP's symbol, the lotus, will bloom in West Bengal. He also assured that the BJP will win all 12 assembly seats of Prayagraj district in the 2027 elections.

Maurya concluded with a call to party workers, urging them to work diligently. He asked them to participate in the voter list purification process and to actively make people aware of the glory of 'Vande Mataram' and the nation's heritage.
