BJP Leader Nitin Nabin Conducts Thorough Inspection of Key Patna Drainage Projects

In a significant move to bolster urban infrastructure ahead of the monsoon season, BJP national president and Bankipur MLA Nitin Nabin carried out a detailed inspection of the Mandiri and Bakarganj drain projects within the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) jurisdiction on Tuesday. The inspection focused on assessing the progress of these critical development works, which are currently in their final stages of completion.

High-Level Delegation Accompanies Inspection Tour

Nabin was accompanied by a high-powered delegation including Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Development and Housing Minister Vijay Sinha, Buidco Managing Director Animesh Parashar, PMC Commissioner Yashpal Meena, and several other senior administrative officials. This collective presence underscored the importance accorded to these infrastructure initiatives by the state administration.

Comprehensive Assessment of Drainage Systems

During the on-site review, Nabin meticulously examined multiple aspects of both drainage projects. His assessment covered cleaning arrangements, silt removal processes, structural integrity evaluations, and flow capacity measurements. He issued clear directives to the officers and technical staff present, urging them to accelerate all essential tasks including proper cleaning and desilting operations.

Emphasis on Quality and Transparency

Nabin placed particular emphasis on maintaining high standards of quality and ensuring complete transparency throughout the drain-cleaning operations. He stressed that regular progress reviews must be conducted to monitor the pace of work and adherence to specifications.

Community Interaction and Administrative Responsibilities

While interacting with local residents during the inspection, Nabin highlighted that ensuring smooth drainage systems and seamless road connectivity in urban areas represents a fundamental responsibility of the administration. He called for enhanced coordination among all relevant departments to achieve these objectives effectively.

Monsoon Preparedness Takes Priority

With the approaching monsoon season in mind, Nabin instructed officials to prioritize the completion of all sewage management-related works. This proactive approach aims to provide effective drainage solutions and prevent waterlogging issues that typically plague urban areas during heavy rainfall. He assured that follow-up inspections would be conducted as necessary to maintain continuous monitoring of project progress.

Substantial Benefits for Patna's Population

Nabin emphasized that the completion of these two roads constructed over drains would benefit a substantial portion of Patna's population. Additionally, he noted that these projects would significantly strengthen the city's traffic management system by reducing congestion and improving vehicular flow.

Detailed Project Specifications and Community Impact

Mandiri Nala Redevelopment Project

The Mandiri Nala redevelopment is being executed by Patna Smart City Limited with an investment of Rs86.98 crore. This ambitious project involves comprehensive rehabilitation of the existing drain along with construction of a 1,289-meter-long covered box drain. The innovative design incorporates a two-lane road on top of the drain structure.

Once completed, this two-lane road will facilitate smooth traffic movement between Nehru Path (Bailey Road) near the Income Tax roundabout and Ashok Rajpath via the Danapur-Gandhi Maidan road near Siddeshwari Kali Mandir. The project design includes two access ramps and three desilting chambers to enable regular maintenance. Furthermore, four sluice gates are planned for enhanced flow regulation and control.

The completed infrastructure will feature comprehensive street lighting along with aesthetic landscaping elements designed to enhance the visual appeal of the surrounding area.

Bakarganj Nala Redevelopment Project

Simultaneously, the Bakarganj Nala redevelopment is progressing with an investment of Rs26.98 crore. Upon completion, this drain will provide significantly improved drainage to multiple key areas including Lalji Tola, Railway Colony, Peer Muhani Machhli Gali, parts of Salimpur Ahra, Rajendra Path, Daldali Road, Bhanwar Pokhar, Ashok Rajpath, Bari Path, Ram Ghulam Chowk near Gandhi Maidan, Gandhi Maidan gate numbers 1, 2 and 3, as well as the Gandhi Maidan bus stand.

These comprehensive drainage projects represent crucial infrastructure investments that will address long-standing urban challenges while enhancing the quality of life for Patna's residents through improved drainage, reduced waterlogging, and enhanced traffic management capabilities.
