CM Revanth Reddy Credits Urban Voters' Mandate to Congress Govt's Performance

In Hyderabad, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy declared on Sunday that the decisive mandate delivered by urban voters in the recent municipal elections is a clear reflection of the trust and confidence they have placed in the Congress government's two-year tenure, as well as in his personal leadership as both the chief minister and the municipal administration minister.

Congress Secures Dominant Majority in Urban Local Bodies

Revanth Reddy highlighted that the Congress party has secured a clear majority in over 80% of the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and is on track to win between 85% to 90% of them. He addressed previous comments that were misinterpreted, clarifying his statement, "nene raju, nene mantri" (I am the king, I am the minister).

"What I meant was that I hold the dual roles of chief minister and municipal minister. Therefore, whether it is victory or defeat in the municipal elections, I must take full responsibility. These results directly reflect my work in both capacities," Revanth explained during his address at the Sant Sevalal Jayanti celebrations held at Banjara Bhavan in Banjara Hills.

Criticism of BRS and KCR's Family

Taking a sharp dig at the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), Revanth Reddy asserted that the party has failed to learn from its successive defeats in the assembly, parliament, and subsequent state elections. "The people experienced BRS governance and decisively voted it out of power. Instead of introspecting on its mistakes, the party is blaming voters for its losses," he alleged.

In an indirect reference to former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's family, Revanth accused them of believing they were born to rule. "I have never considered myself a ruler. I have always maintained that people elected us to serve them. My mindset is not to be thrilled by electoral wins or depressed by losses," he emphasized.

Commitment to Marginalized Communities and Development

The Congress government is committed to making Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), Backward Classes (BCs), and other marginalized communities active partners in governance and the reconstruction of Telangana. Revanth Reddy pointed out that there is no land bank available with the government for distribution to the poor.

"The only path to development for SCs, STs, and other downtrodden communities is through education. This government will provide it to you at all costs," he assured, underscoring the administration's dedication to educational empowerment.

Announcements for Sant Sevalal Punya Kshetram and Infrastructure

Revanth Reddy announced the establishment of the "Sant Sevalal Punya Kshetram" (holy pilgrimage centre) in the Achampet forest by February 15 next year, allocating Rs 15 crore for the project. He directed officials, including the chief secretary, to implement key infrastructure developments:

  • Lay BT roads connecting every tanda and gudem.
  • Extend drinking water facilities.
  • Construct water tanks, school buildings, and gram panchayat buildings.

The chief minister acknowledged the crucial role played by STs, particularly the youth from the Lambada community, in the growth of his political career, reinforcing his commitment to their welfare and progress.
