CM Stalin Vows to Protect Vallalar's Legacy Against Divisive Forces
Chief Minister M K Stalin of Tamil Nadu delivered a strong address on Sunday, accusing divisive forces of attempting to distort the humanitarian philosophy of Vallalar, the revered saint-reformer. Speaking at the inauguration of the international Vallalar conference organized by the HR&CE department in Chennai, Stalin emphasized that the state government would firmly uphold Vallalar's message of equality and compassion through its governance policies.
Defending Tamil Cultural Identity
Stalin warned that efforts to impose different colors on Tamil society's cultural identity would not succeed. He highlighted that Vallalar's teachings, which strongly oppose caste discrimination and social divisions, form the ideological foundation of the Dravidian movement. This philosophy, according to Stalin, underpins the welfare-oriented Dravidian model government currently in power in Tamil Nadu.
Governance Reflecting Vallalar's Principles
The chief minister elaborated on how state schemes addressing hunger and poverty are direct reflections of Vallalar's principle of compassion for all living beings. He stated that these initiatives are designed to ensure social justice and upliftment, aligning with the saint's vision of a society free from inequality.
New Initiatives to Commemorate Vallalar
In a significant announcement, Stalin revealed seven new initiatives aimed at commemorating Vallalar and expanding awareness of his teachings across Tamil Nadu. These efforts are particularly focused on reaching younger generations to instill the values of humanitarianism and social harmony. The initiatives include:
- Educational programs in schools and colleges
- Public awareness campaigns through media
- Cultural events and seminars
- Research projects on Vallalar's philosophy
- Community outreach activities
- Digital platforms for wider dissemination
- Collaborations with international organizations
Stalin concluded by reaffirming the government's commitment to preserving Vallalar's legacy as a cornerstone of Tamil Nadu's progressive governance and cultural heritage.
