Yavatmal witnessed a heated protest on Thursday as Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) members took to the streets to demonstrate against party MP Sanjay Deshmukh. The protesters burnt an effigy of Deshmukh, who is reportedly among six MPs planning to join the faction led by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Protesters accused Deshmukh of betraying the trust placed in him by voters and the party during the Lok Sabha elections. They declared that the people of Yavatmal would never forgive those who betray their mandate. A protester warned, "This is only the beginning. We will not allow traitors to move freely in the district."
