Udhayanidhi Stalin accuses TVK of BJP understanding, panic buying MLAs

Chennai: Leader of the opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin on Thursday said the governor’s address in the assembly was a sign of an understanding between TVK and BJP. He accused chief minister Vijay of panic buying MLAs to keep his government afloat and alleged that the DMK government’s flagship scheme Naan Mudhalvan was renamed.

Governor read out the complete speech prepared by the TVK government, which praised the CM and was filled with reel content. This never happened during the DMK rule. This shows the BJP and TVK have an understanding, Udhayanidhi told reporters after the governor’s address in the assembly.

He accused the TVK government of changing the assembly’s tradition. Governor’s speech traditionally commences with Tamil Thaai Vazhthu and ends with the national anthem. However, this time, the Tamil invocation was followed by the national anthem, and the national anthem was played at the end of governor’s speech too, he said.

He called the TVK rule a copy-paste government, accusing it of renaming DMK government’s schemes to claim credit. The Naan Mudhalvan scheme was renamed and videos related to the scheme were removed from the government’s official X handle, he said.

Udhayanidhi said the governor’s address was a blueprint of the state government’s roadmap for the next five years. But it does not have any new announcements or assurances on implementing its poll promises. Instead, it blames the DMK rule, he said. He dismissed the ruling party’s white paper on state finances as a tactical escape from its election promises, calling it condemnable.

Udhayanidhi said that 175 cases of sexual abuse, 65 murders, and four caste killings have been reported since the TVK came to power. However, the CM is not responding to such incidents, he said. Hence DMK members came to the assembly with badges reading, Please open your mouth CM, he said.

Udhayanidhi said TVK was practicing survival politics and said the party was indulging in panic buying to keep the government afloat. The CM is panic buying of MLAs to save his government. He has been doing this ever since he assumed power, Udhayanidhi said.

People have started regretting for voting for TVK as there is absolutely no scheme or measure to ensure the safety of women and children, he said.

DMDK leader Premalatha Vijayakanth said the governor’s address lacked vision and there were no concrete measures to curb crimes against women and children, she said.
