UP Police Recruitment 2025: 3-Year Age Limit Relaxation Announced for 32,679 Posts
UP Police Recruitment: 3-Year Age Relaxation Announced

In a significant move, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced a major concession for police job aspirants. On Monday, the state administration declared a one-time relaxation of three years in the upper age limit for the upcoming massive police recruitment drive. This decision, ordered by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is set to provide substantial relief to thousands of candidates aiming for constable-level positions.

Details of the Age Relaxation Policy

The age relaxation will apply to all categories of candidates for the proposed 2025 direct recruitment to the police force. An official government statement issued from Lucknow confirmed that the decision was taken under the provisions of the Uttar Pradesh Public Services (Relaxation of Age Limit for Recruitment) Rules, 1992. This measure is specifically designed as a one-time benefit for candidates who were on the verge of becoming ineligible due to existing age restrictions.

Officials explained that this step is expected to greatly benefit aspirants who missed earlier recruitment opportunities primarily because of age limits. The delays caused by the pandemic period had pushed many candidates beyond the eligible age bracket, making this relaxation a crucial intervention. The relaxation is granted in continuation of the recruitment notification originally issued on December 31 of last year.

Scope of Recruitment and Posts Covered

The age relaxation will cover recruitment to a total of 32,679 posts. This large-scale drive includes a wide variety of positions, ensuring opportunities across multiple branches of the police force. The posts open for application are:

  • Constable (Civil Police) for men and women
  • PAC and Armed Police Constables
  • Special Security Force Constables
  • Women Battalion Constables
  • Mounted Police Constables
  • Jail Warders of both genders

The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) had initially announced this recruitment drive for the 32,679 constable-level and equivalent posts on December 31. The online application process began on the same day and, as per the latest update, will continue until January 30, 2026. Candidates are required to complete a mandatory One-Time Registration (OTR) before they can proceed to apply for the positions.

Recruitment Context and Procedure

This recruitment drive is part of the 2025 direct recruitment process. It follows the recent completion of appointments to over 60,000 constable posts earlier in 2025, indicating the state government's sustained focus on strengthening the police force. The UPPRPB has made all detailed eligibility criteria, selection procedures, and examination schedules available on its official website for the convenience of applicants.

The board has emphasized that this recruitment is a separate process, and the age relaxation is a special, one-time measure. Aspirants are advised to carefully review all official notifications and guidelines on the UPPRPB portal to ensure they meet the updated criteria and understand the application workflow thoroughly before submitting their forms.
