CM Yogi Inspects Gorakhpur Smart Road, Hails Rs 2 Crore Annual Revenue Model
Yogi Adityanath Inspects Gorakhpur's Revenue-Generating Smart Road

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted a detailed inspection of a newly constructed smart road in Gorakhpur on Wednesday, praising it as a model project for urban development and a steady source of income for the local civic body.

A Pilot Project Under the CM Grid Scheme

The inspection took place in the Raptinagar area, where the road has been developed as a pilot initiative under the Chief Minister Grid (Green Road Infrastructure Development) scheme. Expressing his satisfaction with the construction quality, CM Yogi emphasized that this smart road, equipped with an advanced utility duct system, is designed to be a permanent revenue stream for the Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation.

During his visit, the Chief Minister sought comprehensive details from the Municipal Commissioner on various facets of the project. He reviewed aspects like parking facilities, public benches, greenery, stormwater management, the utility duct network, and the construction technology employed.

Ending Road Digging & Ensuring Durability

A key highlight of the smart road is its integrated utility duct system. Chief Minister Adityanath explained that this design is intended to prevent the perennial problem of repeated road digging. Essential services such as electricity cables and gas pipelines can be laid and accessed through these dedicated ducts.

"This ensures the longevity of the road surface and provides significant convenience to all utility service providers," stated CM Yogi. This approach not only maintains the road's integrity but also reduces public inconvenience caused by frequent repair work.

A Financial Boon for Urban Local Bodies

The project's most notable feature is its direct financial benefit to the municipal corporation. The Chief Minister highlighted that institutions using the utility ducts to lay their pipelines will pay rent to the Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation.

This arrangement is projected to generate an assured revenue of nearly Rs 2 crore annually for the civic body. "This is a model road which will help urban local bodies across the state enhance their own revenue sources," he added, positioning the project as a template for others to follow.

Concluding his inspection, CM Yogi Adityanath stressed the importance of collective effort. He affirmed that when all stakeholders work in unison, cities, districts, and the state can achieve new heights of development. "Gorakhpur is witnessing development in this very spirit," he remarked, underscoring the collaborative success of the project.
