Bumrah's Intense Nets Session Sees Kishan Struck by Yorker

Ishan Kishan displayed ominous batting form during India's training session on Wednesday, but his stint was abruptly cut short by a searing Jasprit Bumrah yorker. Bumrah, operating at full intensity for the second consecutive day, delivered one of his trademark deliveries that struck Kishan on the foot, leaving the wicketkeeper-batter in visible discomfort.

Kishan limped away from the nets following the blow, and although he briefly returned to resume batting, his session did not last long. This incident highlighted Bumrah's sharp return to action after missing India's T20 World Cup opener against the USA.

Positive Signs for Bumrah's Return Against Namibia

There was more encouraging news surrounding Bumrah, who appears in line for a return to the playing XI for India's upcoming match against Namibia. The fixture is expected to serve as crucial preparation for the much-anticipated clash against Pakistan in Colombo on Sunday.

Tilak Varma provided an update on Bumrah's condition on the eve of the match, stating, "Bumrah is absolutely fine now. He's doing better. As I said, we still have one more day, so hopefully he'll be back in the team. If he continues to improve, the team management will take a call, and I think he could be back for the second game."

Bumrah also participated in catching drills after completing his bowling spell, further indicating his readiness for competitive cricket.

Samson in Contention as Sharma Recovers from Illness

Meanwhile, Sanju Samson, who has been out of the side due to poor form, could be in contention for a recall if Abhishek Sharma fails to recover from a stomach infection. Sharma was hospitalised after arriving in Delhi but was discharged on Wednesday.

Tilak Varma added regarding Sharma's status, "We still have one more day before the game, so hopefully we'll decide by tomorrow how he feels and then move forward accordingly."

Samson was among the batters who spent quality time in the nets, showcasing his skills in a bid to regain his place in the squad.

  • Suryakumar Yadav stayed back to take numerous selfies with DDCA officials, engaging with local cricket administrators.
  • Kuldeep Yadav and Rinku Singh also obliged fans and officials, making it an evening filled with photographs alongside serious preparation.

This blend of intense practice and light-hearted interactions underscored the team's focus as they gear up for critical matches in the T20 World Cup.
