BSNL Rs 259 Broadband Plan: Unlimited Calling, 25Mbps, OTT

State-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has introduced a new broadband plan priced at Rs 259, offering unlimited voice calling, data speeds of up to 25 Mbps, and additional over-the-top (OTT) platform benefits. The plan is designed to cater to budget-conscious users seeking affordable high-speed internet and communication services.

Plan Details and Pricing

The Rs 259 broadband plan provides a monthly data limit of 3.3GB per day at 25 Mbps speed, after which the speed reduces to 1 Mbps. Subscribers also get unlimited local and STD calls, along with 100 SMS per day. The plan includes a complimentary subscription to BSNL's OTT platform, which offers access to movies, TV shows, and other content.

According to BSNL officials, the plan is available for both new and existing customers on a fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) connection. The plan comes with a validity of 30 days and can be recharged through the BSNL website, app, or retail outlets.

Target Audience and Benefits

This plan is aimed at users who require moderate daily data usage and unlimited calling for work or personal use. The OTT benefit adds value for entertainment seekers. BSNL stated that the plan is part of its strategy to expand broadband penetration in semi-urban and rural areas, where affordable internet access is crucial.

Industry analysts note that the Rs 259 plan positions BSNL competitively against private players like Jio and Airtel, which offer similar plans at higher price points. BSNL's focus on bundled services with OTT perks is expected to attract price-sensitive customers.

Impact and Availability

The launch comes amid increasing demand for home broadband due to remote work and online education. BSNL's plan is available across all circles in India, with installation charges applicable as per local policies. Customers can check availability by visiting the nearest BSNL office or calling customer care.

BSNL has also introduced a Rs 499 plan with 50 Mbps speed and higher data limits for heavy users. However, the Rs 259 plan is expected to be the most popular due to its low price and essential features.
