Pune: The DY Patil International University (DYPIU) has established an advanced Digital Engineering and Digital Manufacturing Experience Centre on its campus. This initiative aims to prepare students for the rapidly evolving world of Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing, providing hands-on exposure to next-generation engineering technologies and bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world industrial applications.
Hands-On Training with Cutting-Edge Technologies
Students will gain practical training in virtual twin technology, generative design, multi-physics simulations, digital manufacturing systems, and advanced product innovation tools. The programme is among the first of its kind in Maharashtra and is designed to create highly skilled, industry-ready engineers.
Specialised Facilities and Experiential Learning
The centre will house specialised facilities including a NextGen Product Innovation Lab, an Intelligent Production System Lab, and a Virtual Twin and Simulation Lab, equipped with virtual reality capabilities. These facilities will enable students to work on live industry problem statements, simulations, and real-time manufacturing workflows, giving them valuable experiential learning opportunities, said officials.
Manish Bhalla, vice chancellor of DYPIU, stated: "Students will also benefit from industry-led certification programmes, internships, live projects, and regular interactions with experts from the manufacturing and engineering sectors. The collaboration will additionally focus on faculty development, curriculum enhancement, and a three-year training of trainers (ToT) programme to ensure that students receive education aligned with global industry standards and emerging technological trends."
Partnership with Dassault Systèmes
Deepak NG, managing director of Dassault Systèmes India, commented: "Our collaboration with DYPIU to establish this centre marks a significant step. By enabling access to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and virtual twin technologies, we aim to foster an innovation-driven ecosystem aligned with the ‘Make in India' vision and Industry 4.0 demands."
