IIT Guwahati and Coventry University Group Sign MoU to Advance AI and Healthcare Research
In a significant move to bolster global research and innovation in artificial intelligence and healthcare, the Indian Institute of Technology-Guwahati (IIT-G) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Coventry University Group (CUG) from the United Kingdom. This strategic partnership aims to expand research collaboration, support academic mobility, and enable joint degree initiatives, as announced by IIT-G in an official release.
Strengthening Indo-UK Academic Ties
The agreement marks a pivotal step in enhancing academic engagement between India and the UK, positioning both institutions at the forefront of the global shift towards technology-driven healthcare solutions. The MoU was formalized recently during a visit to IIT-G by senior research leadership from CUG, led by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) Professor Richard Dashwood.
Key Pillars of the Collaboration
The collaboration is structured around several core areas designed to foster innovation and knowledge exchange:
- Academic and Research Mobility: This includes short-term faculty and student exchanges to promote cross-cultural learning and expertise sharing.
- Joint Doctoral Programmes: Featuring a dual-award PhD under a joint supervision framework, which will provide advanced research opportunities for scholars.
- AI for One Health: Aligned with India's National AI Mission, this initiative focuses on leveraging artificial intelligence to address holistic health challenges, integrating human, animal, and environmental health aspects.
