OnePlus Nord 6 Review: Mid-Range Marvel with 165Hz Display and 9000mAh Battery
OnePlus Nord 6 Review: 165Hz Display, 9000mAh Battery

The OnePlus Nord series has always aimed to sit between budget and flagship, and the OnePlus Nord 6 continues that tradition. Priced at Rs 38,999, it features a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, a 9,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, a 165Hz 1.5K AMOLED display, and OxygenOS 16. We tested the 12GB + 256GB model (Rs 41,999) in Fresh Mint color for daily browsing, streaming, calling, and gaming like BGMI.

Design

The Fresh Mint unit has a clean, understated look that avoids aggressive design language. The smooth finish feels premium but attracts fingerprints. The phone is somewhat heavy due to its large battery, but ergonomic design allows one-handed use. It feels durable and reliable, with IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K certifications and MIL-STD-810H compliance, promising resistance to accidents including washing machine survival.

Display

The 6-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel with 165Hz refresh rate is a standout feature. Scrolling and gaming are fluid and responsive. High Brightness mode reaches 1,800 nits for outdoor visibility, and HDR peaks at 3,600 nits. Aqua Touch 2.0 ensures accurate touch inputs with damp fingers, and 3840Hz PWM dimming reduces eye fatigue during extended use.

Performance and Software

The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 delivers smooth daily performance. BGMI at max settings with gyroscope showed no lag, aided by a Touch Reflex Chip with 3200Hz touch sampling and a 6-axis gyroscope. Call quality was clear on 5G and Wi-Fi. OxygenOS 16 is fluid and organized, with AI tools like live call translation, summarisation, AI Ghostwriter, AI Scanner, and AI Mind Space. Mind Space proved most practical for saving and organizing on-screen content. Integration with Google Gemini and Circle to Search adds real utility.

Camera

The 50MP Sony main sensor with dual-axis OIS captures natural colors and good detail in daylight. Low-light performance has improved, with better brightness and less noise, but fine detail can soften. Video records up to 4K at 60fps with good stabilization. AI tools like AI Eraser and AI Unblur are useful for corrections. The 32MP front camera delivers detailed, accurate selfies.

Battery and Charging

The 9,000mAh battery easily lasts over two days of moderate use. 80W SuperVOOC charging takes a little over an hour for a full charge, a trade-off for the large cell. Bypass charging during gaming helps manage heat, and 27W reverse wired charging is handy for accessories.

Verdict

Starting at Rs 38,999, the OnePlus Nord 6 offers strong performance, a bright 165Hz display, and exceptional battery life. Cameras are competent but not flagship-level. Software support and a lifetime display guarantee add value. For gamers and users prioritizing battery and display over camera, the Nord 6 is a well-rounded mid-range option.
