Subnautica 2 features a vast alien ocean where survival requires evolution. One way to adapt is through Adaptations, biological upgrades that unlock new survival options. These upgrades provide benefits such as breathing pressurized air and interacting with alien technology. Adaptations are linked to large organic structures called Angel Combs, and unlocking them is essential for game progression. In the current Early Access build, there are four known Adaptations: Pressure Tolerance, Digestion, Heat Tolerance, and Axum Vision. Here is how to obtain them.

Below are details on each Adaptation and how to acquire them.
Pressure Tolerance
This is the first Adaptation you can unlock, even before crashing into the ocean. During the prologue sequence inside the habitat, you are forced to interact with an Angel Comb, which grants Pressure Tolerance. This ability allows you to breathe highly pressurized air, meaning your oxygen level will not deplete in non-submerged pressurized spaces.
Digestion
The Digestion Adaptation is located approximately 160 to 180 meters north-northeast of the Lifepod. A useful landmark is Anita's blackbox recording, with the Angel Comb nearby. Unlike later Adaptations, no Bloom clearing is required. Simply reach the Angel Comb and interact with the pink bulb. This Adaptation lets you safely consume any food prepared from local resources.
Heat Tolerance
The Heat Tolerance Angel Comb is near Wander's blackbox recording. Unlike previous flowers, this one is completely sealed by a viral infection. You must craft a Sonic Resonator to blast the glowing blue Bloom Cankers spreading across the plant's two tendrils. After clearing both tendril chambers, return to the central node and interact with the bulb to claim Heat Tolerance.
Axum Vision
Considered the best Adaptation currently available, Axum Vision is found past the Alien Base, approximately 1,800 meters east of the Lifepod. You reach this area after completing objectives in the Tadpole Pens. The distance and presence of Leviathans make a Tadpole vehicle mandatory. You also need a Depth Module for your submarine, as the Angel Comb sits well below the 250-meter crush depth threshold. The standard Sonic Resonator is ineffective; you require the Feedback Resonator instead. After using it, interact with the bulb to gain Axum Vision, which allows interaction with Axum technology.
