TISS to Launch Global Social Science Research Body

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) is set to launch a Global Social Science Research Body aimed at strengthening international collaboration, interdisciplinary research, and Global South knowledge partnerships in social sciences. The announcement will be made as part of its 90th anniversary celebrations.

New Dual Degree Programs

The institute will also announce three new international dual degree programs in partnership with the University of Leeds, University College London, and the University of Canterbury, expanding its global academic portfolio.

Vision for Global Collaboration

TISS Vice-Chancellor Prof. Badri Narayan Tiwari stated that the institute envisions becoming a key anchor for social science research by promoting cross-border academic partnerships, interdisciplinary knowledge exchange, and policy-oriented engagement among scholars, practitioners, and institutions across the Global South and beyond.

Global Colloquium Details

The announcements will be made during the Global Colloquium titled 'Building Bridges in Social Sciences' from May 11 to 13 at the TISS campus in Deonar, Mumbai. The event will bring together scholars, policymakers, diplomats, civil society representatives, and practitioners from around the world. The inaugural session on May 11 will be attended by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Themes to be Discussed

The colloquium aims to encourage dialogue, collaboration, and critical reflection within social sciences while placing India's development experience at the center of global knowledge exchange. Themes include governance and public policy, sustainability and climate resilience, social transformation, public health systems, migration and urbanization, and the relationship between technology and society in an increasingly digital world.
