A tragic accident occurred on Wednesday morning on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway in Palghar district, where an allegedly speeding car ran over a woman and her 17-year-old son who were waiting to cross the road to reach their farmland. The woman, identified as Pratiksha Prabhakar Padosa (40), died on the spot, while her son Tushar sustained serious injuries and is currently being treated at a hospital in Silvassa.
Details of the Incident
The incident took place around 8:30 am near Padospada in Haloli village. According to Manor police, a car carrying three occupants, including a resident of Santacruz, was heading towards Surat. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which then hit the mother and son. The car overturned after the collision, resulting in minor injuries to one of the three occupants.
Police Investigation
Manor police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances leading to the accident. Preliminary reports suggest that the car was speeding, but further details are awaited. The injured teen has been admitted to a Silvassa hospital, where his condition is reported to be stable.
