The Department of Panchayats and Rural Development, Government of West Bengal, has started the registration process for the WB Gram Panchayat Recruitment 2026 examination. This recruitment drive aims to fill more than 11,000 vacancies across various posts in the rural administration system. Candidates can register through the WBPRMS portal, and the detailed recruitment notification is expected soon.

Vacancies Expanded Across Multiple Posts

The recruitment covers posts including Gram Panchayat Karmee, Gram Panchayat Sahayak, Data Entry Operator, Panchayat Secretary, Nirman Sahayak, Executive Assistant, Clerk, Accounts Clerk, Lower Division Assistant, Technical Assistant, Assistant Cashier, Village Resource Person, and Computer Assistant. The total number of vacancies has been raised to approximately 11,000, a significant increase from the earlier estimate of around 6,500 positions. The registration process started on June 17, 2026, and the online application link is expected to be activated after the release of the detailed notification.

Eligibility Criteria and Age Requirements

Educational qualifications vary by post. Gram Panchayat Karmee applicants must have passed Class 8. Gram Panchayat Sahayak candidates need Madhyamik with at least 50% marks. Data Entry Operator applicants require Madhyamik qualification along with a government-approved computer course certificate. Higher Secondary qualification is required for Panchayat Secretary posts, while Executive Assistant candidates must hold a bachelor's degree with computer proficiency. A Civil Engineering diploma is mandatory for Nirman Sahayak positions. Applicants must be proficient in Bengali or Nepali in designated hill regions. The age limit is 18 to 40 years for General candidates, 18 to 43 years for OBC candidates, and 18 to 45 years for SC and ST candidates.

Examination Pattern and Salary Structure

The written examination will carry 85 marks, with questions from English, Bengali, Arithmetic, and General Knowledge, including rural life and rural development. Depending on the post, candidates may also face interviews and skill tests. Monthly salaries vary by position, ranging from Rs. 17,000 for Panchayat Karmee, Group D, and Peon posts to Rs. 92,100 for Nirman Sahayak posts. Executive Assistant and Stenographer positions carry a pay scale of Rs. 28,900 to Rs. 74,500.
