DAVV to Launch QR-Coded Digital Academic Documents for Global Verification
In a significant student-focused reform, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) in Indore is set to introduce system-generated migration certificates, provisional degrees and transcripts next month. All documents will feature embedded QR codes to enable seamless global verification, addressing long-standing concerns for thousands of students, particularly those applying to universities abroad.
Addressing Legibility and Acceptance Issues
Until now, several academic documents from DAVV were issued in handwritten format, often leading to issues related to legibility and acceptance. Many foreign institutions were reluctant to recognise such documents, creating substantial hurdles in admission processes for students seeking higher education overseas.
DAVV assistant registrar Vishnu Mishra explained, "We are moving towards a fully digital and system-generated framework for key academic documents. QR-enabled verification will make the process transparent, secure and globally accessible, ensuring students face no difficulty during admissions, especially at foreign universities."
How the New System Will Work
With the new system, students will be able to:
- Apply online for their documents
- Receive documents digitally without visiting the university
- Access documents with unique QR codes for verification
Each document will carry a unique QR code, allowing institutions anywhere in the world to verify its authenticity by scanning and completing a simple online process. This innovation ensures both convenience and credibility for students and verifying institutions alike.
Eliminating Manual Errors and Tampering
University officials emphasized that the shift to a software-based system will eliminate the possibility of manual errors or tampering. The standardized format brings greater transparency and reliability, which is expected to benefit students pursuing higher education both within India and overseas.
The scale of this transition is substantial. In 2025 alone, the university issued:
- Over 17,700 migration certificates
- More than 1,000 provisional degrees
- Approximately 1,200 transcripts
Growing Demand and Future Impact
With an increasing number of students seeking such documents each year, especially after the separation of Khargone University, the demand is expected to rise further. Officials emphasized that the reform is aimed at making academic documentation more accessible, secure and globally acceptable.
