Mangaluru International Airport Unveils Affordable Udan Yatri Café and Digi Yatra
In a significant move to enhance passenger amenities and digital connectivity, Civil Aviation Minister Shri Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu e-inaugurated the Udan Yatri Café and digitally launched the Digi Yatra facility at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) on Friday. This initiative aligns with the government's broader efforts to make air travel more accessible and convenient for all citizens.
Affordable Snacks and Beverages at Udan Yatri Café
The Udan Yatri Café, strategically located in the pre-check-in departure area of the airport, offers a range of snacks and beverages at highly affordable prices, starting as low as Rs 10. This café is part of a government push to expand cost-effective passenger amenities and support wider access to air travel, ensuring that travellers can enjoy basic refreshments without financial strain.
Key offerings at the café include:
- Tea priced at Rs 10
- Coffee available for Rs 20
- Drinking water at Rs 10
- Snack and sweet of the day, each costing Rs 20
Currently, the snack offered is samosa, and the sweet is gulab jamun. Since its commencement of operations, the café has received a positive response from passengers, highlighting its role in improving the travel experience.
Digi Yatra Adoption Soars at Mangaluru Airport
Alongside the café launch, Minister Kinjarapu digitally inaugurated the Digi Yatra service at MIA, marking a step forward in digital travel facilitation. Mangaluru began trials for Digi Yatra in June 2024, during which 338 out of 36,895 domestic passengers utilized the service.
By January 2026, usage had surged dramatically, with 24,512 of 79,114 domestic travellers adopting Digi Yatra, representing an impressive 31% adoption rate. This growth underscores the increasing acceptance and efficiency of digital solutions in streamlining airport processes and enhancing passenger convenience.
The combined launch of the Udan Yatri Café and Digi Yatra at Mangaluru International Airport reflects a dual focus on affordability and technological advancement in India's aviation sector, aiming to make air travel more inclusive and seamless for all.
